HISPANIC / LATIN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH GALA CONCERT 2023

The Ontario Pops Orchestra is one of the most diverse professional orchestras in Canada. Music director maestro Carlos Bastidas and the musicians of the Ontario Pops Orchestra open the 2023-2024 Heritage and Diversity Concert Season with the Hispanic / Latin American Heritage Month Gala Concert. This concert will be a celebration of Latin Culture with performances by the orchestra and special guests Flamenco Dancers Compañia Carmen Romero, Tango dancers Daniel & Ana, Viva Mexico Mariachi, Tenor Romulo Delgado, Yanet Campbell Secades and Felipe Luzuriaga performing Navarra for two violins and orchestra.

The Ontario Pops Orchestra will also present “The Magic of the Holiday Season” on Dec 15, 2023; “A Musical Journey” on March 2, 2024, and “Asian Heritage Month Gala Concert” on May 24, 2024. All concerts will be held at Glenn Gould Studio at 250 Front Street West, Toronto. Concert hall in the CBC building.

The Ontario Pops Orchestra is one of the most diverse professional orchestras in Canada. Music director Carlos Bastidas and the musicians of the Ontario Pops Orchestra will perform their 4th concert of the 2022-2023 season. This concert will be a celebration of Multicultural Day in Canada with performances by the orchestra and special guest Giovanni Ruiz, performing on the Kena (Bamboo flute from the Andes).

Romulo Delgado

Romulo Delgado is an operatic tenor, composer, world music multi- instrumentalist, vocal coach
and adjudicator. He was a region finalist at the Hans Gabor Belvedere International Opera
competition in Vienna, Austria and trained in Toronto at the Royal Conservatory Music.

Viva Mexico Mariachi Band

Is a unique multicultural phenomenon of professional, talented and enthusiastic musicians from very diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Daniel Guajardo & Ana Giuliano

Daniel and Ana started dancing Tango together in 2015, and with their varied experience in performing, teaching, choreography, and dance training background, Daniel and Ana blend all aspects of their dance skills in every performance.

Carmen Romero

Carmen Romero is a leading and award-winning established flamenco dance artist. Her experience in performance, education, production and adjudication, affirms her position in the national and international dance scene.

Yanet Campbell Secades

Born in Camagüey, Cuba, violinist Yanet Campbell Secades is an accomplished soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Her skilled and sensitive playing has enabled her to perform in some of the most important venues in Cuba, Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.

Felipe
Luzuriaga

Felipe Luzuriaga is a musician with an excelling trajectory. Having toured extensively throughout the world, he has performed as soloist, concertmaster, and orchestral member. He has conducted orchestras and ensembles internationally and written and arranged music in different genres for studio recordings films, theatre, and dance.
