Ontario Pops Orchestra Presents: Hispanic/Latin American Heritage Month Gala Concert
Toronto, ON – September 20, 2024 – The Ontario Pops Orchestra, under the dynamic baton of Maestro Carlos Bastidas, is thrilled to announce its Hispanic/Latin American Heritage Month Gala Concert. This vibrant celebration of Hispanic and Latin American culture will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 8:00 PM at Trinity St. Paul’s Centre, located at 427 Bloor St W, Toronto.
This special concert will feature an exceptional lineup of talent, including:

Sonia Rodriguez, former principal dancer of the National Ballet of Canada, whose grace and artistry will captivate the audience.
Juan Dino, renowned guitarist, bringing the rhythmic and soulful sounds of Latin America to the stage.
Carlos Olavide & Adriana Moraru, celebrated dancers whose passionate performances promise to enchant and energize.
Fabian Arciniegas, a distinguished singer known for his powerful and emotive voice.
Mariachi Fuego, whose lively and authentic mariachi music will infuse the evening with spirited energy.

Hispanic / Latin American Gala Concert Featured Artists

Sonia Rodriguez

A native of Toronto, Sonia Rodriguez studied dance in Madrid with Pedro de la Cruz and at the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco. She joined The National Ballet of Canada in 1990 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2000. Praised for her , Sonia is an acclaimed artist of pure elegance.

Juan Dino

Juan DinoToledo is a flamenco/world/rock music guitarist, composer and live performer. He has toured and recorded with several bands and solo artists such as Jesse Cook and Jeff Healy. He released his first acoustic world music solo album titled “Samsara” and is the recipient of The Oneness Award given by “One World Music” a UK/European radio station, for the song “Share Love” off the album “Samsara”.

Fabian Arciniegas

“He brings audible discipline to every line and breathtaking vocal control fueling each syllable with feeling” Garth Thomas, Indie Pulse Music “He takes us on quite a ride and his control is absolute” Anne Hollister, Indie Source Fabian Arciniegas is a versatile Colombian-Canadian singer-actor. He brings a wide range of repertoire to life, from Baroque to Contemporary.

Adriana Moraru

Adriana Moraru is a passionate and dynamic Dance Instructor with a diverse background in multiple dance disciplines. Beginning her journey at the age of three with the disciplined ballet and the vigorous gymnastics, she later expanded her expertise to include Ballroom, Latin, and Club Styles. Her versatility and love for dance shine through in her teaching.

Carlos Olavide

Carlos Olavide is a charismatic and skilled dance instructor at Dance to the Rhythm. His journey in dance started in the vibrant cultures of Venezuela and Peru, where he immersed himself in the rich traditions and rhythms that define Latin dance. With over a decade of teaching experience, Carlos has developed a unique and effective approach to dance instruction.

Mariachi Fuego

Since its inception in 2008 Mariachi Fuego has been thrilling audience of all sizes with its unique brand of Mariachi music. Whether a small private serenata or a large wedding or corporate function Mariachi Fuego consistently and reliably performs to the highest standards of musicality and professionalism.
